Photo Competition Results 2008

BEST PHOTO

Craig Bornholm - GORDON ACT

Craig has captured the true essence of the Summernats.
Clint Ogilvie, Burnout Masters competitor standing proud on his car
after another memorable performance. Even his passenger (maybe his missus) is in on it. The spectacular car is (almost) centrally featured in the shot, but what is also shown is an appreciative crowd
with three sponsors’ logos on show. Ripper shot Craig.

MOST OUTSTANDING STREET MACHINE

Stuart Mathie - PENNANT HILLS   NSW

First up, it’s a good clean, well centered shot. There’s no doubt that the colour, the chrome, the blown engine makes a statement.
Add to that, the fact it had just picked up
the 2007 SMOTY Award.  It certainly was
an outstanding street machine.

TOUGHEST LOOKING STREET MACHINE

Brad Thomas - HASSALL GROVE   NSW

A well centered, crisp shot of a car with attitude. A Pontiac GTO represents factory muscle from the sixties, but what guarantees the tough look is a blown 572 big block.

BEST ACTION SHOT

Jason Adams - GOULBURN   NSW

A tough 1932 Ford coupe comin’ at ya is action a-plenty under the Summernats sign. A nice element is the calm and collected lady beside the track getting to up-close action shots.

BEST GOOD TIME SCENE

Jason Adams - GOULBURN   NSW

There’s no doubt that this shot captures people having a good time.
Chic’s comment was, “Pity it’s of dickheads playing up.”

BEST CROWD SCENE

Hayden Tyrrell - ASHCROFT   NSW

Taken just near PPG Corner and looking towards Nolathane Tuff Street.
We liked it because it shows zillions of people, cars cruising and best of all, a great variety of Summernats fans
from little kids to older dudes.

MOST UNUSUAL SHOT

Cameron Smith - BOWRAL  NSW

Look closely folks.
The 350 isn’t actually on the HK Ute.
Very clever.

CRUISIN’ IN CANBERRA

Jason Adams - GOULBURN   NSW

Not a sharp image, but it shows the hassles of a cruise in Canberra.
The owner of the modified mopar was to soon show the coppers that this car was 100% engineered, certified and street legal. We loved the shot!

Stunt man Lawrence Legend trashes a Roller.
Whoops! The fire got a bit intense.

Soooo! Where's the rest of the ride?

Pro-announcer Pinky on the job at the Bridgestone Pavilion.

Brett the Boss aint asleep. Just thinking about cool things to say at the Gladiator Challenge.

Cool how the smoke hangs around the donut pad.

Movie stars at the Summernats??

And as the sun goes down in Canberra......

"I always wanted to lead a parade"

Another Yummie trick. A ute full of smoke.

Yeah mate! I own it!

How did they do that?

"Honest. I was just leaning on it and BANG, CRASH!"

A few Zzzzz's and I'll be better.

How am I gonna drive home now?

See. It wasn't me who ate the green ice block. It was HIM........OR...........pull my finger and see my other trick!
