On entering a car in the Summernats, Entrants can choose to participate in the competition or simply enjoy the event by cruising or parking somewhere to watch the passing parade.

If an entrant chooses to be more active, their car can be judged for quality in one of their groups, either Street, Tuff Street or Elite. The Elite award is where the top 60 cars are chosen from.

Driving events include the (3) driving skill events on the main arena, the go- whoa or the burnout comp.

To win the Grand Champion Award (OA), an entrant must be from the elite group, have done well in the driving events (excl burnouts) and feature in the peoples choice voting.

Additional competitions are the car audio soundoff and the Db drag racing.

Entrants for the supercruise have either featured in the awards and competitions or are individually selected for their outstanding and unique features.
