What is Summernats?
 The annual Street Machine Magazine Summernats (proudly supported
by Rare Spares) is more than a car show; it’s a festival of
the street machine lifestyle. The event attracts enthusiasts from
Australia and overseas to see, feel and participate.
"Summernats
is the Mecca for the totally committed “revhead”
Exhibition Park offers the opportunity to cruise the kilometres
of roadways, and stretch performance to the maximum, in the outrageous
Burnout and Go-Whoa competitions on the world’s first and
only purpose-built burnout facility. Entrant’s cars, tortured
on the Chassis Dyno, search for the Summernats Horsepower Hero,
while grass driving events provide the stage to demonstrate those
proudly held driving abilities. The Top 60 Show, Car Audio Sound
Off, and Miss Summernats combine with entertainment and displays
to bring Exhibition Park to life with a high spirited, automotive,
New Year atomosphere.

 The event
for Street Machines built to be registered and driven on the road,
a cavalcade of automotive art.
For people who are interested in cars, Summernats begins with an
understanding that street machines are modified, customised or restored
street cars that were originally built after 1948 and then changed
from original to suit the owners taste.
It’s more than a car show. Summernats is a four-day carnival
for the enthusiast and spectator alike.
The four day program gets under way with registration and set-up
on Thursday, and then from 8am Friday, hang on for the ride of your
life.
Closing late each night you can see the best in street machine
displays and judging, high octane entertainment and up to 160 retail
and trade exhibitors with everything from high performance equipment
to collectible art and paraphernalia. 
Don’t miss the Summernats merchandise and souvenirs, a reminder
of your visit to horsepower heaven.
The Kids Zone amusement areas and the special competitions to enthral
kids, both big and little, often surprise family groups.
International tourists also leave dumfounded, after a four-day
battering of Australian automotive ingenuity and the high energy,
party experience.
